I chose Cote d’Ivoire because of my strong interest in Francophone countries and traveling in general. I had visited France on two separate occasions and Vietnam once. I was ready to choose a place of unfamiliarity. I searched the programs across the African continent for the one that best described my education focus and I found Cote d’Ivoire! The program mentioned curriculum studies and pedagogy, all of which I had begun to explore in undergrad. It truly was a perfect fit.
I am so ready for the beginning of my next journey! I’m excited to be open-minded about this experience. There is so much that can be learned and exchanged in this opportunity and I hope I take advantage of this time. I enjoy learning about people, their motivations, and their cultures. I hope that I can not only share about myself, the US, and the English language, but also just take a step back to be the “learner” as well. I’m eager to see myself grow as a traveler, a global citizen, and an educator.
